Project Buena Vista: Elevating Architectural Cladding in Brisbane

Project Buena Vista stands as a defining chapter in the MyCladders story—a project that not only marked our entry into the world of architectural cladding but also set a new benchmark for roofing and wall cladding excellence in Brisbane and Queensland. Completed in 2016, Buena Vista was the first architectural project facilitated by the MyCladders team, undertaken in close partnership with the acclaimed Shaun Lockyer Architects. This collaboration was a pivotal moment for us, combining innovative design with the highest standards of workmanship and establishing MyCladders as a leader in architectural roofing and cladding.

Located in Brisbane’s leafy suburbs, Buena Vista House is a striking example of modern residential design. The home reimagines suburban living through a unique blend of robust materials and refined detailing, drawing inspiration from the site’s history and the client’s vision for a contemporary family retreat. Our team was brought on board to deliver the roofing and wall cladding scope, utilising premium Colorbond steel profiles to achieve the architect’s ambitious vision.

Architectural Profiles and Materiality

A standout feature of Buena Vista House is its sophisticated use of Colorbond® Steel in the Monument® colour. Our scope included both roof and wall cladding, with each element meticulously detailed to achieve a bold, cohesive look. For the roof, we installed the Stramit Longspan® profile—chosen for its ability to create long, uninterrupted lines that accentuate the building’s crisp silhouette. The walls were clad in Lysaght Longline 305® profile, a profile celebrated for its sharp vertical ribs and shadow-play, which adds depth and visual interest to the façade.

The cladding wraps continuously from the roof down the walls, forming a striking steel envelope that is both visually impressive and highly functional. Our team worked closely with the architect to ensure every junction, transition, and custom element—such as the garage door and bespoke rainwater heads—was flawlessly integrated. The result is a harmonious interplay between light and shadow, with the steel profiles providing both a protective skin and a powerful architectural statement. This project exemplifies our commitment to precision, quality, and the creative use of Colorbond steel in architectural cladding.

Buena Vista stands as a benchmark for architectural cladding in Brisbane, showcasing what’s possible when skilled craftsmanship and innovative design come together.
